After defeating Wellington College by 6 wickets in a match which was determined by DLS the weather gods chose not to shine upon the tournament. Earlier, TBC got off to a good start with Josh Espitalier, bowling into a howling wind, snared two early wickets to have Wellington 20/2. A solid partnership ensued to take Wellington to 70/2 before TBC tightened the screws with good, tight bowling from all. Lachy Balfour was the main destroyer, picking up 4/23 bowling into the wind. At the other end Loughie Keaney bowled with control for a miserly 1/17 off his 8 which contributed to the pressure that continued to build before Wellington were finally bowled out in the last over for 150. In reply Sam Clode (15) and Loughie Keaney (40 not out from 46 balls) got us off to a flyer. However, we lost a few quick wickets but in the end got through to a comfortable 6 wicket win thanks to DLS.

Unfortunately our second and third games against Auckland Grammar and New Plymouth Boys' High School were also washed out. Tauranga Boys' College were crowned 2020 champions based on a superior net run rate.

Congratulations to the boys and thanks to the families who supported the team in Palmerston North. This year group is particularly promising and we look forward to following their progress over the next few years!
