TRAINING:
All training is done through Canoe Slalom BOP and the Teacher-in-charge for new paddlers.

VENUES AND TIMINGS:  

Y9 & 10 Novice paddlers starting Canoe Slalom

For new paddlers training will be held at two venues in the greater Tauranga Area:

Waimarino Adventure Park - 36 Taniwha Place, Bethlehem, Tauranga 3172

Carters Training Site -  21 Takitimu drive, Judea, Tauranga, 3110

Training sessions last 1 hour will be held after school approximately 2 nights per week for the duration of the term. These traning sessions are normally held between 4-6pm.

For paddlers attending the Carters Training Site they will be able to easily walk to this, for training sessions at Waimarino we recommend using the school bus or car pooling.

Y9-13 Existing Team Members

For existing paddlers training will be held at the above venues and will include trips to:
Kaituna River, Tarawera River, Wairoa River and Vector Wero Whitewater Park

Training Camps

During the school holidays Canoe Slalom BOP will run a number of training camps based on the paddlers ability. Details of these camps will be e-mailed out to all Canoe Slalom BOP members and published on our website under the Camps link.


UNIFORM:  

Members of the Kayaking team that attend Secondary Schools competitions will be issued with a Titans tracksuit and team top. 

EQUIPMENT:  

Y9 & 10 Novice paddlers- When starting in the sport you will have all paddling gear provided at your training sessions, you will just be responsible for bringing togs, rash vest and towel plus warm clothes for after the session.

Y9-13 Existing Team Members – It is expected that existing team members will own their own paddle sport specific clothing, boats and paddles.

Some boats such as C1 and C2 will be supplied by the school.

COSTS:  
Tauranga Boys' College Titans Kayaking Administration Fee $20 for all paddlers.
This covers school administration, maintenance of boats and storage costs of our equipment and travel expenses for the teacher in charge to get to some of the training sessions.

COACHING FEES:

The first session with Canoe Slalom BOP is free to make sure that the sport is right for you!

 Following this to join any further sessions you must be a member of the club. Memberships rate are $70 for single paddler or $120 for family. This will also give you discount of races and camps throughout the year. To complete your membership please check out the Canoe Slalom BOP website under the membership tab.

 Once you are a member of the club each session will cost $16.50 per session including GST. However, if you do more than 3 sessions per week the 4th session and above will cost you $9.00 inc GST.

Canoe Slalom BOP also run rolling sessions which are charged at the normal rate outlined above.

12 - 17 Apr        New Zealand Secondary School White Water Kayaking Champs - Kawerau

INTERESTED:

Students that are interested in Kayaking are to meet with Mr Sperling in R15 Pathways Centre (next to the hockey turf) Friday lunch time (or any other lunch time if they forget).
